Debonair Samir (Milk Crate / B-More Gutter Music) :
Biog : Samir Singletary, better known as Debonair Samir, was a hip-hop DJ and producer long before he began toiling in the lucrative salt mines of Baltimore club in the late '90s. Now 34, Singletary returned to Baltimore five years ago after spending a few years out of town. "When I moved back here in 2001, I heard the Tim Trees joint and the Pork Chop joint and I was like, `Man this is a sound!'" he exclaims. "And nobody wasn't even embracin' it. They was like, `Oh, this is wack.'" How right he was and wrong they were. The Baltimore club sound has grown and grown and now finds itself blasting out the speakers of booty shaking clubs across the globe. Since the explosion of the B-more sound, Debonair Samir has made his name as remixer extraordinaire and the official producer NYC’s Aaron LaCrate and his Milk Crate Records. Alongside the likes of Diplo and his Hollertronix crew, they have blazed the trail for the low down, get dumb and freak out in the club ghetto beats that we all can’t get enough of in 2008. A prolific DJ and beat maker since his teens, Samir has perfected the art of re-mixing, production, and engineering, scoring underground club hits and red hot anthems like it ain’t no thing. Slow burning dance floor hits like ‘Samir’s Anthem’ have found their way into the record boxes of techno DJs, hip hop spinners, electro selectors, house jocks and international tastemakers alike. Artists as diverse as Lily Allen, Busta Rhymes, E 40, Spank Rock, Jurassic 5, Alicia Keys and Jack Penate have all got on their knees and near begged him to rework their music into sure-fire-tear-the-roof-off club bangers.
