Kormac : Biog : "Kormac's stuff rocks - I'm a big fan of what he's doing right now... clear dancefloor bangers " - DJ Yoda "Reminds me of a cross between Kid Koala and Fingathing" - DJ Food (Ninja Tune/Solid Steel) It's been quite the few months for producer, DJ and band-leader Kormac. He has brought his 11-piece live show to the Electric Picnic festival's main stage as well as rocking festival after festival in a solidly booked summer, picked up DJ residencies UK wide along with rocking spots across Europe and become the darling of the alternative music press for his sell out releases. Kormac's debut solo release, The Scratch Marchin' EP, was released worldwide in 2007 and sold out 2 re-presses having receiving high profile radio and DJ support from the likes of Bonobo, DJ Craze, Joe Ransom (Kiss FM), DJ Food, Crazy P amongst many others. The one and only DJ Yoda is currently giving Kormac's beats plenty of airtime during his sets and included Kormac's material on his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. Not to be outdone in the DJ stakes, Kormac's genre smashing Beat Traders DJ mix was recently broadcast on Ninja Tune's Solid Steel radio show, rubbing shoulders with label heads Coldcut as it was sent out across the airwaves of 30 countries worldwide. His Good Lord EP was released in March 2008, fusing off kilter sampling of 30s gospel music with live trumpet, scratching, banjos and the vocal styles of a barbershop quartet to a rapturous response. Picking up plays in clubs all over the world as well as being playlisted on Kiss FM and BBC Radio 1, it has become one of the best received alternative hip hop tracks of the year. In between a hectic DJ and live schedule, Kormac is currently working on his debut album as well as a host of remix productions. The Kormac live show features the man himself on turntables, keys and samplers as part of an 11 piece ensemble of double bass, a barbershop quartet, trumpet , claranet, banjo, drums and a visuals. The band have shared the stage with such luminaries as DJ Numark (Jurassic 5,) DJ Food, DJ Craze DJ Premier (Gangstarr,) Nas, The Herbaliser and Lupe Fiasco.
